Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She holds the record for being recognized with 10/10 scores in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics teacher who later became the coach for Comaneci and first became aware of Comaneci at the age of six. Her first competitive event was the national junior championships which she was 13th place in 1969. In 1970, Comaneci took home the title. In 1972, during a meet of communist countries junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she was awarded three gold medals. After that, in 1973 and 1974, she became the junior champion in all aspects. At her first competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion winning four gold and one silver medal. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first female to do a backward double salto as a dismount from the uneven bars parallel to each other. As a teenager she was performing on traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater alongside her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on the 6th of September, 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol ventured into the entertainment business as a teenager. At the age of 13 Carol was an ice figure skater for traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
